Hi I’m Tim

My background is in project management. For many years I ran complex large scale projects in the financial sector. In that time I have been in charge of projects made up of 100s of people, costing millions of pounds. I understand what it takes to deliver a successful project.

In parallel I developed a career in renovation and self building. I completely gutted and renovated my first flat in London in the 1990s. During the 2000s I completed more renovations in Brighton, then moved up to Hertfordshire and added a 60sqm extension to the property we’d bought. In 2010 I bought a derelict barn with no stairs or windows in the south of France and renovated that over a 3 year period. In 2013 I bought a plot of land in Bedfordshire and designed a 450sqm modern barn. I managed the self build on a day to day basis, opting for a timber frame and 15 months later we moved in, the project delivered on time and to budget at £1000 per square metre. In 2020 I split my plot and got planning permission for a 250sqm modern single storey dwelling which I have built using Insulated Concrete Framework (ICF) construction. I’ve worked with large contractors, master craftsmen, sole traders and am familiar with a wide variety of construction methods and renewable technologies.

Why should you work with me?

As you can probably tell building and renovation is where my heart is, and in 2023 I completed my SAP assessor training and accreditation.  For too long the construction industry has built building homes that are often of questionable quality, but the latest SAP 10 regulations hold the industry to account. The construction quality now has to be there in order to pass the new regulations and deliver a sound structure and energy efficiency.  I’m passionate about the green revolution within the building industry and I love building great designs in a cost effective way without sacrificing quality.

With the new regulations in place and potentially even stricter ones to follow in 2025 the SAP assessor has an important role to play. The design and build of the dwelling has to meet these new requirements and its now critical to finalise the specification of your build as early as possible, preferably during the planning phase. If you adopt this approach and design your dwelling to the correct specification and tailor it to your intended construction method than you are well on the way to a successful build and realising many of the possible cost savings that are out there. The SAP assessor has in effect become a build design consultant working alongside you and your architect to make sure you get it right first time. While the architect will focus on the design and aesthetics the SAP assessor will help ensure it functions as it needs to.

With my experience and passion in this area I can help you get the home of your dreams.
